Beer Conference Environment Native Sustainability

Farm and Food: Pearl Brewery

Over lunch someone shared more about the location where this conference is being held. It’s an old brewery. The people developing it seem to have a holistic idea of economic and community development. They have the largest array of solar panels in Texas (I think?) on their roof.

They turned the beer vats into cisterns. On the one hand, that makes me want to cry, but, on the other hand, it is the coolest reuse of something used to make cheap beer. I could not support someone doing that at the Shiner brewery.

They also planted lots of native drought tolerant plants and trees throughout the property. So, it seems like a pretty sweet place to be holding this conference. Check out their site for more information.
